Will you "Do Something"?

Right about the time we started our adoption application (and launched ourselves into a whole new world!), i began listening to KLove radio and heard this song for the first time. On my first listen, tears came down as i felt the lyrics so perfectly described my heart and WHY i always felt God wanted me to adopt (among other things ive done in life). Although i am not always "doing something", i do feel the great pull of God on my heart to Do Something when injustice, or hurt, or sin threatens others. I want to give His love through me.
A friend of mine saw this video today and so kindly emailed me to let me know it reminded her of us- and reminded her to pray for us in our journey. I enjoyed the video, but i would suggest listening to this with your eyes closed FIRST- if you've never heard it before. (Go ahead- no one is looking- give it a try!) The lyrics are even more impactful when there are no visual distractions.

Thank you, Akesha for praying for us and sending this to me- how perfect that God would encourage you to send me this song when it has already been a huge encouragement, inspiration, and validation to me in the past two months. God is so cool :)
For us, right now, our "doing something" is a loving family for one child....but for you...what are you doing? Fighting an injustice, considering adoption, shoveling a neighbors driveway, or simply giving a hug?
We are the hands and feet of Jesus here on earth...so lets DO SOMETHING about it! :)

Grace and Adoption

Jesus came...."to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. " (Galations 4:5 ESV)

Undeserved mercy....unreserved love....amazing grace....it was showered on us, without hesitation, by our Lord, so how could we not, in turn, give that love away to others without reservation?

When we were so far from Him, He rescued our hearts by giving His own life, and did this all just so He could call us His own children.....adopted, loved, and accepted unconditionally and forever.

We are flawed but forgiven people, so with Christ's love as our model, we want to bring our baby home to be loved and accepted unconditionally and forever.

A letter to friends:

Dear Family and Friends, Over 20 years ago, God lit a spark in our hearts that would one day turn into a flame of passion. That passion was for the adoption of a child that would one day be ours. After we married in 2008, we prayed until God showed us the right time to take that big leap of faith. We began the process in Jan. 2014 and have been a "waiting family" since Nov. 2014. We can’t wait to welcome our baby boy or girl through the Domestic Infant Program at Bethany Christian Services (BCS). There are over 147 million orphans worldwide and 120,000 children currently in the U.S. foster care system. It is estimated that less than 10 percent of these children are adopted into evangelical Christian families. God desires for orphans in all nations to be loved, cared for, and adopted into families that will teach the love of Christ. We have an amazing Savior- a priceless gift- that we cannot wait to share with our baby! Maybe God is tugging at your heart to surround an orphan with His love and the love of your family? Adoption does come with countless challenges- emotional, spiritual, psychological, and financial to name a few. The estimated total cost for our baby's adoption through BCS is ~$28,000, with expenses beyond that which might be required (travel expenses, medical fees, legal fees, etc.) That big number stood looming in front of us at the outset of our journey, and we didn't know how we would find the money, but we firmly believe God is faithful and is leading us to trust Him to help us to our goal. We have achieved our goal of earning $23,000 of the cost through savings and working overtime, and we are trusting God to help us raise at least $5,000 through clothing and bake sales, our Noah's Ark puzzle fundraiser, and selling homemade birdseed wreaths. By God’s grace and the generosity of friends, we have raised $4,645 of our goal as of April 2015! Although it is uncomfortable to talk about the financial aspect of adoption, we are sharing our need with you and allowing God to move how He sees fit. We primarily ask that you will be a prayer warrior for our baby until they come home. We want our baby's arrival to be covered in loving prayer. If God has also tugged at your heart to help us financially, we've included some information on how you can do so. 1. Please pray that God would give wisdom, comfort, and peace to our baby's birthparents, and health and comfort to our baby. For us, please ask God to give clear direction and unwavering trust In His flawless plan as we wait to meet our baby. 2. If you feel God would want you to help us with the remainder of our goal, would you consider making a tax-deductible donation to help cover the last of our adoption expenses? Our goal date for giving is June 1, 2015, but financial gifts will be accepted until our adoption is complete.
